Student Member Spotlight: Get to know Daniel Fisher

Where are you from?

Born and raised right here in Jacksonville.

How long have you lived in Jacksonville?

My entire life!  I’m happy to call this place home.

Briefly explain your job and major responsibilities:

I’m employed by SSA Atlantic as a part-time worker managing school full-time as well.  To start I was responsible for processing trucker paperwork but I’ve now shifted to being the eyes on the ground for keeping our paper warehouse operations running smoothly.

How long have you worked at your current job?

4 months now!

Major/ minor/ degree?

I have two Bachelor’s degrees I’m working towards, one in Logistics in addition to Economics

How long have you been a member of the Propeller Club?

I’ve been going to events put on by the Propeller Club since March of last year.

What is your favorite Propeller Club event?

Truthfully, all of them.  No matter what kind of event it is, I always leave with a new perspective on logistics and about 10 business cards of people who would be more than happy to help me along in my career if they are able.

Family/Significant Other/Pets?

I’m an only child so no brothers or sisters to speak of.  I do have two cats who enjoy lazing about the house most of the time.

What is your proudest moment/achievement?

There are a number I have to choose from, but I would say my proudest would be when I earned the rank of Eagle Scout. It was the pinnacle of so many years of hard work and fun and stands as something that I myself went out and achieved.

What is something unique about you that you’d like to share... hobby/hidden talent/award?

(Feel free to use as much or as little as you’d like here. I just thought it would be helpful to give a solid profile)

When I’m not at school or work, my favorite hobby would be rock climbing and I try to go as much as I possibly can. Jacksonville is home to a couple of awesome different places to climb each with their own distinct community of people so it ends up being a good way to meet some awesome individuals as well.

Awards: Last year I was among a select few who got to travel to the IANA Case Expo in California on academic achievement which taught me more than I can possibly remember. I got the chance to hear about some of the latest cutting-edge tech in the business and talk to some very accomplished professionals.  Just this year as well I’ve received scholarships from The Propeller Club and Shoreside Logistics which I am very thankful to have received as I need all the help I can in finishing my college career.
