Jacksonville Propeller Club Hosts Past President’s Breakfast

The Propeller Club – Port of Jacksonville was established in the early 1930s and has been bringing Northeast Florida’s maritime industry together ever since to network, advocate and give back. The club boasts a long list of maritime leaders who are responsible for the success of the organization over the years.

To kick-off the 2022-2023 term under the new President Kenny Santos of Aqua Gulf, the organization hosted a Past President’s breakfast to celebrate the club’s leadership and discuss its growth in the coming year. The event was attended by several past leaders including Liz Miller (2014-2015) who now serves as the Southeast Region Vice President for the International Propeller Club as well as Phil Buhler (2002-2003), Jim Gillen (2013-2014), Tammy Emerson (2016-2017), Jeff Price (2017-2018), Lindsey Brock (2019-2020) and Whitney Croxton (2021-2022).

"Each of these individuals not only represents a year in our club's history but also an important part of Jacksonville's maritime and logistics industry," said Santos. "Connecting with each of them to learn from their experiences and knowledge is vital for the future success of PropClubJax."

The group enjoyed breakfast at The River Club while sharing stories about their time at the helm and offering guidance to the new President. Topics included attracting the younger generation, club management and the importance of maintaining traditions while evolving to grow with the industry.

When asked about the importance of gatherings like this, Liz Miller explained the time together saying, “It’s about being a part of something bigger than yourself – passion, enthusiasm, camaraderie, joy.” And for all those reasons and more PropClubJax leaders plan to host more events bringing the Past Presidents together in the future.

As a volunteer-run organization, the Jacksonville Propeller Club depends on industry leaders such as these and others to ensure its success for decades into the future. Learn more about becoming a member of the Board or serving the club in a variety of roles, reach out to PropClubJax@gmail.com.
