Propeller Club recognizes Linda Carrion as 2017-2018 Club Member of the Year

At its Maritime Day Celebration on May 22, the Propeller Club of Jacksonville announced Linda Carrion as Club Member of the Year, 2017-2018.Linda joined the Board in the summer of 2017 and started making an impact immediately. In one of her first contributions to the club, she served on the President-appointed 501(c)(6) Committee to compile requirements of nonprofit organizations. Linda has also represented the club in the public, helping to forge partnerships with vital members of the Jacksonville community. She represented the Propeller Club at student events hosted by AMIkids, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and one of the future beneficiaries of Propeller Club contributions. She also represented the Propeller Club at a U.S. Coast Guard-organized 5K race, and in her words, just as important, she completed the race. This gives you some insight into her work ethic - she gets the job done.When the club could not afford to outsource administrative help in the fall of 2017, Linda volunteered to serve as a Board Officer in the role of Board Secretary. The club's Board is comprised of 25 working professionals, so organizing just one of the Board’s monthly meetings requires a tremendous amount of effort to ensure all details are covered. She scheduled Board Meetings, managed RSVPs, booked contracts with vendors, assisted with the agenda, and recorded the minutes. She also consistently collated information from the Board. In addition to obtaining photographs of Board Members for publication on our club's website, her outreach to the Board was crucial to the club's efforts to complete its fundraiser application to ensure compliance with Florida Statute Chapter 496.Linda has also contributed to the success of our monthly events. In addition to organizing the club's Maritime Day celebration on May 22, she has served on the event planning committee to organize an event in April 2018 commemorating an historic partnership between six Northeast Florida transportation organizations.It is the Board's distinct pleasure to award Linda Carrion with this year's Club Member of the Year award.Featured image: Linda Carrion receives Club Member of the Year Award from Propeller Club President Jeff Price on May 22, 2018.
