This month, get to know Paul Foran of CMR - Consolidated Maritime Resources, LLC.Propeller Club Member: Paul ForanCompany Name: CMR - Consolidated Maritime Resources, LLCTitle: Marine ConsultantEmail: paulforan@cmr96.comWhere are you from/hometown?Bay Shore, NYHow long have you lived in Jacksonville?We have lived in the Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra area since 2013.Briefly explain your job and major responsibilities:As an independent marine consultant with CMR, I conduct SIRE inspections for the oil majors, and act as Marine Safety Advisor for oil cargo transfers. I perform cargo surveys and inspections of dry cargo vessels, while offering ISM internal audits and training. In response to marine accidents, I provide expert research and testimony. CMR also offers assistance with documentation issues, particularly for change of owner or management change.How long have you worked at your current job?Although I founded CMR in 1996, I started consulting full time in November 2015.What's your favorite part of your job?Interacting with clients and providing management solutions in a cost effective manner.Any prior employment you'd like to share?I enjoyed a number of years working with Crowley, serving on government owned ships, and most recently managing Crowley tank vessels plus working on LNG bunkering and short haul projects. Prior to Crowley, I worked for a number of steamship companies including OMI Corp., Union Oil Company and I also enjoyed five years assisting the STAR Center in becoming a premier maritime simulation and training institution. I have also owned my own natural, gourmet food store and luncheonette.If you went to college, where did you go and what was your major/minor/degree?I graduated from USMMA, Kings Point in 1981. My degree was in Nautical Science.How long have you been a member of the Propeller Club?I have been a member since 2015.Why did you join the club? Please also include your favorite thing about the Propeller Club.I have attended a number of Propeller Club events over the years and now that I have permanently settled in the Jacksonville area, I decided to formally join the local chapter. I have always been impressed with the community support that the Propeller Club is known for and I want to be a part of "giving back".What is your favorite Propeller Club event?My favorite event thus far was the recent gathering at Top Golf, but I am also a huge fan of the CEO luncheon.Family/Significant Other/Pets?My lovely wife is Carrie, with our boys Kyle and Michael plus we have our "kritters" - 3 dogs and 2 cats.What is your proudest moment/achievement?Serving the United States of America as Master of 15 sea going vessels, the majority of which were in support of U.S. Armed Forces, from Operation Desert Storm through Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.What is something unique about you that you'd like to share...hobby/hidden talent/award?: I enjoy playing music, both piano and trombone. I also enjoy cooking!Anything else you'd like members of the club to know about you?I am blessed to have the support of my wonderful wife Carrie, who is also my best friend.
