Meet the 2015-2016 Student Port President: Delaney Robinson
Delaney Robinson is a senior at the University of North Florida Coggin College of Business and President of the UNF Transportation and Logistics Society and the Propeller Club of the United States Student Port in Jacksonville.Delaney spent her summer as an intern at the Volkswagen Group of America Jacksonville parts distribution center. Previously she was a claims analyst intern with Interline Brands during her junior year. Delaney has received multiple merit awards including scholarships from Florida Bright Futures and the Transportation Club of Jacksonville. Recently she was named the Intermodal Association of North America UNF Scholar which includes a scholarship award. One of the highlights of Delaney’s academic career was when she attended the 2014 IANA Expo in Long Beach, California. There she discovered the breadth of opportunities young professionals can pursue in the field. She also talked to many professionals who explained what they do in their careers and how they fit into the complex system of Intermodal transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. The experience inspired her to get a jump start on her career by obtaining multiple internships to gain experience while she was still in college.As a student in the Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program at UNF, Delaney has taken advantage of attending facility tours including the Port of Long Beach, Port of Jacksonville, and several transportation, logistics, distribution and manufacturing facilities based in Northeast Florida and Georgia. She said that, “witnessing the excitement of the industry first-hand got me hooked!” Her active involvement with the UNF Transportation and Logistics Society and Student Port has afforded her great networking and volunteer opportunities and a chance to represent the program at industry conferences including the JAXPORT Intermodal Conference, the IANA Expo, and the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Global Conference. Her efforts were rewarded when she was presented with the UNF Transportation and Logistics Society Impact Award at the 7th Annual Spring Banquet and Awards Ceremony hosted by the T&L Flagship Program.
