Douglas Campbell named Propeller Club Robert J. “Bobby” Coppedge Maritime Person of the Year

Douglas Campbell, Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, is the Propeller Club of Jacksonville 2013-2014 Robert J. “Bobby” Coppedge Maritime Person of the Year. The award was announced at the club's Change of Command ceremony on June 19.As the Sector's Port Recovery Specialist, Mr. Campbell made countless high-profile contributions to Northeast Florida. His most recent initiative, the "Post Incident Port Coordination Team" (PCT), created a team comprised of selected members of the maritime community whose principal role is to collaboratively advise the Captain of the Port and/or the Unified Command on the resumption of port operations following a Maritime Transportation System (MTS) incident. Mr. Campbell developed the Post Incident PCT to allow it to closely coordinate with Business Resumption Groups and ensure a rapid recovery of the MTS in a transparent and equitable process. This initiative is expected to greatly bolster the port readiness of Jacksonville, a port generating nearly $19 Billion in total economic activity each year. In addition, through many other initiatives and work, Mr. Campbell made a lasting positive impact on both Coast Guard members and interagency partners. His organizational skills, outstanding leadership abilities, and civic engagement made him an exceptional selection for the Propeller Club of Jacksonville - Maritime Person of the Year Award for 2013-2014.
