Letter from the President: Florida Governor DeSantis Visits JAXPORT

Today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited JAXPORT's Blount Island Marine terminal to share an important message with shippers around the globe. "We're here and we have capacity," said DeSantis at a news conference surrounded by leaders from Jacksonville's transportation and logistics industry. The message is an important one in light of the tremendous port congestion issues facing shippers today and one we as the Propeller Club - Port of Jacksonville should echo with support.

What I would add is not only are our state's ports open, we have a deep workforce that is experienced in the safe and efficient movement of cargo across the supply chain. From the bar pilots and tug operators who safely bring the vessels in our river to the men and women across the docks who move the cargo off and on vessels, and truck drivers delivering cargo - you are the heartbeat of Florida's seaports. Without you, seaports are just another piece of infrastructure.

Thank you for the work you do every day to #keepcargomoving.

I'd also like to say thank you to Governor DeSantis for his support of Florida seaports and JAXPORT CEO Eric Green for developing incentive plans to attract more cargo to our port which ultimately creates more jobs for our Propeller Club members and neighbors.

Please join me in expressing appreciation to our local and state partners for their support as well as advocating for Jacksonville as a global gateway for shippers.

Sincerely,

Whitney Croxton

President
