Do you ever just look at the calendar and think - where did the time go? For me, my time as the President of the Jacksonville Propeller Club is flying by all too quickly it seems.
This past week I had the opportunity to lead a panel discussion at the University of North Florida with students from the Transportation & Logistics Council featuring Scott Fernandez, Aqua Gulf; Vivian Patterson, SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal, and Tomasz Lis, AMPORTS. Listening to these industry leaders speak about their decades of experience and love for what they do coupled with meeting students eager to begin a career in our field, left me feeling energized and reminded of my WHY.
WHY I love this industry and the people in it so much and WHY what we do at the Propeller Club is so important. It is our responsibility to create opportunities for connection between our peers, to advocate for our region and the growth of it for future generations, and give back to our community. All because the work we do is essential - for the success of our local economy and that of our nation, and more importantly to create jobs for our neighbors.
Which leads me to our upcoming State of the Port address happening on Tuesday, March 8 where panelists will share stories of ‘Why Jax’ and JAXPORT CEO Eric Green will share an update on the port’s major growth projects. These conversations are important because together - as a community - we are stronger.
