2021 Member of the Year Ed Coppedge

The 2021 Propeller Club - Port of Jacksonville Member of the Year is Ed Coppedge for his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty in service to the club.

Ed comes from a family that is woven into the fabric of the maritime community in Northeast Florida. His grandfather, J.H. Coppedge started the Propeller Club - Port of Jacksonville in 1930. At that time the family business was Diesel Shipbuilding Co.
in Jacksonville. Since that time, the Coppedge family has served in numerous roles throughout the club’s history and Ed has continued to honor his family’s legacy in the organization.

Ed served many years on the Board of Directors and in every officer position, culminating as President for the 2018-2019 term. He helped reinvigorate the club’s annual golf tournament and his fiscal leadership helped put the club back into a
strong financial position to increase funding for scholarships and other maritime training programs for troubled youth in the community. More importantly, during the past year when we were faced with shutdowns due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Ed continued to reach out to club members and past presidents to foster morale within our industry.

His compassion for others is the foundation of his character and shows in his community service as a volunteer chaplain at a local hospital. Ed has helped grow the family business, now known as Coppedge Marine, Inc. since 1988 focusing on sales and customer service of
marine and industrial products.

Not only was Ed honored as our club's Member of the Year, he was also chosen as the Southeast Region's Member of the Year. He was presented with both awards at the 2021 Change of Command ceremony.
