LNG 904

LNG 904 was an event hosted in 2016 by the Propeller Club of Jacksonville with support from the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME), demonstrating how Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) is fueling business in Jacksonville.

Archived information follows:

LNG represents a leading edge solution for cost effective and clean energy. LNG has been embraced in recent years by the commercial shipping industry, not only as a cargo but as a primary fuel source for waterborne transportation. Recent environmental mandates, volatility in petroleum fuel costs, and the competitive nature of global freight rates have all made LNG a top consideration.

Challenges in current distribution of LNG for refueling vessels, trucks, and other high use fuel users have slowed growth in utilization. Through the vision of the commercial shipping and LNG industry, Jacksonville has become a primary source for LNG. We currently have two LNG fuel terminals under construction in our port area as well as two competitive ship owners supporting global trade operating from Jacksonville. The infrastructure, once completed, can support a wide range of uses for LNG creating new clientele from every corner of the globe as well as support organizations to accommodate the needs of the clients. The net result is a significant increase in our trade to the region, new high paying jobs, an influx of tax revenue, and improvements to the Jacksonville community.

This half-day seminar featured discussion and presentations from key business leaders in the LNG market, as well as networking opportunities for professionals in the maritime, transportation, and logistics industries.
